Two MLAs Among Six Injured After Car Crosses Divider, Crashes Into SUV in Delhi

At least six people, including Delhi Aam Aadmi Party MLA Anil Jha and Karnataka BJP MLA Abhay Patil, were injured after a hatchback crossed a road divider and collided with an SUV near the PWD headquarters on Vikas Marg in central Delhi on Sunday night.

The two MLAs were travelling in the SUV when the crash took place near ITO. Police said all six people suffered minor injuries and were taken to Lok Nayak Hospital. Their condition was reported to be stable.

How the Accident Happened

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Rohit Ranbir Singh, the IP Estate police station received information about the accident at around 9:30 pm.

Police reached the location and found two damaged vehicles, both registered in Delhi.

Preliminary investigation showed that a 32-year-old man from Arya Nagar was driving the hatchback towards ITO from Laxmi Nagar. His wife and two minor children were also travelling in the car.

Near the PWD office, the hatchback reportedly hit the road divider and crossed the railing before entering the opposite carriageway. It then collided with the SUV travelling from ITO towards Laxmi Nagar.

Anil Jha, Abhay Patil Among Those Injured

The SUV was carrying Anil Jha, the sitting AAP MLA from Kirari Assembly constituency, and Abhay Patil, a BJP MLA from Karnataka.

Police confirmed that everyone involved sustained minor injuries and was shifted to Lok Nayak Hospital for treatment. All six were said to be in stable condition.

Fire Brigade Helps Clear Road

The collision caused substantial damage to both vehicles, particularly the front section of the SUV.

The Delhi Fire Brigade was called to the scene to help remove the damaged vehicles and clear the affected stretch of road. Police are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
