Haiwaan Box Office: Saif Ali Khan-Akshay Kumar Film Opens With Rs 3 Crore On Day 1

Haiwaan Box Office Collection Day 1: Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar’s Haiwaan arrived in theatres on Friday, September 11, amid mixed reviews.

Early box office figures suggest that the Priyadarshan directorial opened on a modest note, earning around Rs 3 crore in India on its first day.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Haiwaan recorded a net collection of Rs 3 crore across 7,224 shows in India on Day 1. The film’s India gross stood at approximately Rs 3.60 crore, while its worldwide earnings were reported at around Rs 4 crore, including roughly Rs 1 crore from overseas markets.

The film’s opening-day occupancy remained relatively low. Haiwaan registered an overall occupancy of 12.42 per cent during morning shows, which rose to around 18.15 per cent during the night shows.

Directed by Priyadarshan, Haiwaan was among the more anticipated releases of the month, largely because it marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan on the big screen after several years. The cast also features Saiyami Kher, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Boman Irani and Sharib Hashmi in important roles.

The action-crime thriller revolves around a visually impaired martial artist who becomes entangled in a dangerous situation involving a young girl and a ruthless killer. Saif Ali Khan plays the visually impaired protagonist, while Akshay Kumar portrays the antagonist.

Haiwaan is an official remake of Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam. Despite the reunion of its two leading stars, the film has received a mixed response from critics and audiences.

News18 Showsha rated the film two stars, criticising its screenplay and execution. The review noted that the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan after 17 years deserved stronger material, adding that the actors’ performances could not fully overcome the film’s weak writing.

With a modest opening-day collection, Haiwaan will now be looking to benefit from stronger audience turnout over the weekend. Its performance over the next few days will be crucial in determining whether it can gain momentum at the box office.
