Indian Cybercrime Agency Warns Banks and Financial Firms Against AI-Powered Cyberattacks

India’s cybercrime agency has sounded an alarm over the growing threat of artificial intelligence-driven cyberattacks targeting the financial sector, issuing an advisory to banks, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) and other financial institutions.

The warning comes just days after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued a similar alert, highlighting increasing concerns over the use of advanced AI technologies by cybercriminals to carry out financially motivated attacks.

In an advisory made public on Wednesday, the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) cautioned that attackers are increasingly deploying AI agents to compromise financial systems at unprecedented speed.

“These attacks are financially motivated and are being carried out with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) agents leading to machine speed compromise,” the agency stated.

The advisory underscores the growing cybersecurity challenges facing India’s financial institutions as criminals increasingly use AI-powered tools to accelerate attacks and target vulnerable digital systems.
