Aamir Khan: “I Can’t Act in Every Film, That’s Why I Produce”
Superstar Aamir Khan on Wednesday explained why he has been stepping back from leading roles, preferring to produce films instead. Speaking at an Agenda Aaj Tak session in New Delhi, the 60-year-old actor said while he enjoys acting the most, it’s not possible to be part of every project, which is why he takes on the role of a producer.
“Production mein apna alag maza hai. Although I enjoy acting more, I can’t do every film by myself,” Aamir said, referring to his production house, Aamir Khan Productions.
The actor, who recently starred in “Sitaare Zameen Par”, a follow-up to his 2007 hit “Taare Zameen Par”, revealed that he has read several scripts and found a few stories appealing.
Aamir confirmed that he is actively producing films and has 3–4 projects lined up for release next year. Among them:
“Ek Din”, starring his son Junaid Khan alongside acclaimed South actress Sai Pallavi.
“Happy Patel”, featuring Vir Das and Mona Singh, releasing in January.
“Lahore 1947”, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and headlined by Sunny Deol.
Sharing a fun anecdote, Aamir added, “Mona Singh, who played my mother in ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, will see me play her father in ‘Happy Patel’.”
By producing these films, Aamir aims to stay creatively involved in storytelling while balancing his limited acting commitments.
