Alcaraz Sets Up Blockbuster ATP Finals Title Clash With Sinner

Carlos Alcaraz reached his first ATP Finals championship match with a commanding 6-2, 6-4 win over Felix Auger-Aliassime in Turin on Saturday.

The victory at the Inalpi Arena sets up a blockbuster title clash against world No. 2 Jannik Sinner — a showdown between the two dominant forces of the season. It also capped a landmark week for the Spaniard, who received the ATP Year-end No. 1 trophy just a day earlier.

Alcaraz was in complete control throughout the 83-minute semifinal, showcasing the sharpness and confidence that have defined his campaign. The 22-year-old did not face a single break point, dictating rallies with heavy baseline hitting, crisp volleys and his signature disguise at the net.

“I felt like I could do everything on court,” Alcaraz said after the match. “That confidence helped through the whole match, pushing him to the limit.”

A break at 3-1 set the tone in the opening set, with Alcaraz sealing it through a full-stretch volley at the end of a lengthy exchange. He kept Auger-Aliassime under constant pressure with his mix of pace, angles and drop shots, running away with the first set 6-2. In the second, a key break at 4-4 allowed him to close out the contest with authority.

His variety was the hallmark of the night — from anticipatory court coverage to seamless transitions forward — leaving Auger-Aliassime with few solutions. Alcaraz has now reached the final without dropping a set.

The championship match is set to be one of the most anticipated of the season. Alcaraz leads Sinner 4-1 in their 2025 meetings (10-5 overall), while the Italian carries a 30-match indoor winning streak and the backing of a fervent home crowd. Both enter the final unbeaten this week, having split the season’s four majors and collected 13 titles between them.

“It’s always great facing Jannik,” Alcaraz said. “I know I have to play my plan A if I want to beat him. We’ll both raise our levels — great for the fans.”

Alcaraz is the first Spaniard to reach the ATP Finals title match since Rafael Nadal in 2013 and will attempt to become the country’s first champion since Alex Corretja lifted the trophy in 1998.
