Andhra Pradesh Launches Free JEE, NEET Coaching for Over 1 Lakh Govt Junior College Students.
Andhra Pradesh Human Resource Minister Nara Lokesh on Sunday unveiled a major education initiative aimed at leveling the playing field for students preparing for India’s top competitive exams. The state government will now offer free coaching for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) to over one lakh students enrolled in government junior colleges.
The scheme will cover students across 1,355 government institutions, providing them with specially curated study material prepared by expert faculty over the past six months. The material will cater to students in both MPC (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) and BiPC (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) streams.
“This initiative gives every Andhra student a fair chance to dream big and achieve bigger,” said Lokesh, highlighting the government’s efforts to reduce the education gap between public and private institutions. “Our mission is simple: to give every student the confidence, tools, and platform to succeed.”
In a move to align with the structured approach of private coaching centres, college hours have been extended from 9:30 am–4:00 pm to 9:00 am–5:00 pm. Each student will receive a minimum of two hours of focused coaching daily, delivered by trained junior lecturers.
To ensure accountability and track student performance, the program includes regular weekly tests, performance assessments, and continuous progress monitoring—practices often seen in elite coaching institutions.
Lokesh called the initiative the “first of its kind” in the state’s education history, especially in terms of its scale and reach. He said the program is a crucial step under the new Andhra Pradesh Model of Education, which champions equal access to quality learning opportunities for all.
“This is about creating an ecosystem where every child—regardless of economic background—can confidently prepare for national-level exams like JEE and NEET,” he added.
The scheme reflects the state government’s broader vision: transforming government schools and colleges into centres of academic excellence while empowering students from underserved communities.
