Apple Delivers Record June Quarter as India Emerges as a Major Growth Driver
Apple has reported its strongest-ever June quarter, with revenue reaching $109.4 billion, marking a 16% year-on-year increase. The results came during CEO Tim Cook’s final earnings call as the company’s chief executive, with Apple posting double-digit growth across its major businesses, including iPhone, Mac and Services.
Despite challenges such as geopolitical uncertainty, rising supply chain costs and component availability concerns, Apple managed to deliver record performance across multiple regions, including India.
“Apple is proud to report our strongest June quarter ever, with double-digit revenue growth across iPhone, Mac and Services, and in every geographic segment,” Cook said during the earnings call.
India Strengthens Position as Key Apple Market
India continued to be one of Apple’s important growth markets, with Cook highlighting record June quarter revenue across regions.
“We achieved June quarter revenue records in every geographic segment. We were pleased to see strength across the board with June quarter records in the US, Latin America, Western Europe, India, China mainland, Japan and Southeast Asia,” Cook said.
Apple CFO Kevan Parekh also noted that the company’s installed base of active devices reached an all-time high across product categories and regions, reflecting continued customer growth.
iPhone Leads Growth, Mac Posts Record Quarter
Apple recorded a gross profit margin of around 50%, supported by strong performance across hardware and services.
The iPhone remained the biggest contributor, generating $54.2 billion in sales, up significantly from the previous year. Mac revenue also saw strong growth, reaching $10.35 billion, compared with $8.04 billion a year earlier.
The company’s wearables, home and accessories segment reported $7.88 billion in revenue, while iPad sales declined slightly to $6.19 billion from $6.58 billion in the same quarter last year.
Mac was among the standout performers, with revenue rising 29% year-on-year to a June quarter record. Apple attributed the growth to strong demand for MacBook models, particularly in emerging markets such as India and Southeast Asia.
Supply Constraints Remain a Challenge
While Apple delivered strong results, Cook warned about ongoing supply challenges, particularly for advanced semiconductor components.
“The advanced nodes SoCs that we need are supply constrained. The root cause is not a regular supply issue. It’s not a supplier relationship issue either. Instead, our demand forecast is too high,” Cook said.
He added that strong demand for iPhone and Mac products had put additional pressure on the supply chain, which has limited flexibility.
India Outlook: Strong Growth but Rising Costs a Concern
Industry analysts believe India will remain a crucial market for Apple, although rising component costs could create challenges.
Counterpoint Research analyst Tarun Pathak said Apple has managed to absorb higher memory costs through inventory management and lower expenses in other components. He expects India to deliver single-digit volume growth but double-digit value growth in 2026.
Apple has already increased prices of some products in India, including Macs and iPads, due to rising component costs. The MacBook Neo also saw a price increase of ₹10,000.
Prabhu Ram of CyberMedia Research said India’s performance highlights the country’s growing importance as both a consumer market and manufacturing hub.
“India stood out, posting strong double-digit growth and another June-quarter revenue record, underscoring its growing importance as both a key market and manufacturing hub,” he said.
Apple Outperforms a Challenging Market
Apple’s strong iPhone performance comes amid weakness in India’s overall smartphone market. Counterpoint Research data showed smartphone shipments in India declined year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, following a weak first quarter.
The global PC market also faced pressure, with IDC reporting a decline in shipments during the same period. Apple, however, was the only major computer manufacturer to gain market share despite the broader slowdown.
With record revenue, expanding services growth and stronger momentum in India, Apple enters its next leadership phase from a position of strength.
