The Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, chaired by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, has warned.

That the unfolding situation in Bangladesh could become India’s most serious strategic challenge in the neighbouring country since the 1971 Liberation War. The panel flagged concerns over political realignments, a widening generational disconnect, and increasing external influence from China and Pakistan.

The committee presented its report on India–Bangladesh relations in Parliament, basing its assessment on non-official inputs and testimonies recorded during its deliberations.
