“Epstein-Democrats Connection to Be Probed at Trump’s Request”

Trump Requests Justice Department Probe Into Epstein’s Alleged Democratic Ties.

The US Justice Department on Friday said it will follow President Donald Trump’s request to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s ties to former President Bill Clinton, JPMorgan, and other prominent Democrats. The move comes days after a congressional committee released thousands of documents raising questions about Trump’s own relationship with the late financier.

Attorney General Pam Bondi said Jay Clayton, Manhattan’s top federal prosecutor, will lead the investigation. Legal experts warned that Trump’s request risks appearing as “vindictive prosecution,” which could undermine any resulting cases.

Trump has repeatedly demanded federal scrutiny of perceived political opponents, including former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James. He justified the new Epstein-related probe by claiming the financier was “a Democrat” and that the responsibility lay with the party, not him.

Clinton, JPMorgan, and others named in the investigation have denied wrongdoing. Clinton’s office said emails confirm he “did nothing and knew nothing,” while JPMorgan said it regrets its past association but “did not help” Epstein commit any crimes. LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, also mentioned in the documents, called for full disclosure, asserting the allegations are baseless political attacks.

Epstein, who died by suicide in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while facing federal sex trafficking charges, had ties to multiple high-profile figures. JPMorgan paid $290 million in 2023 to settle claims it overlooked Epstein’s illegal activities. The Justice Department previously found no credible evidence implicating Clinton, Summers, or Hoffman in Epstein’s crimes.

Trump and Epstein were acquaintances in the 1990s and 2000s, though Trump says he ended ties before Epstein’s 2008 conviction. The Republican-controlled House is expected to vote on legislation requiring the Justice Department to release all Epstein-related materials, though it still must pass the Senate and receive presidential approval.

Clayton, a political independent and former SEC chair, will lead the probe into Epstein’s connections with Clinton, JPMorgan, and other figures.
