The investigation into the shooting outside actor Salman Khan’s Mumbai home has taken a new turn, with Mumbai Police uncovering a plot conceived and directed by gangsters residing in the US, sources said.

Anmol Bishnoi, younger brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the firing incident in a Facebook post. However, sources said that the post’s Canadian IP address is a smokescreen, with the actual location being California, US, through a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Anmol Bishnoi, wanted in connection with the murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala and a slew of other crimes, is a fugitive who previously absconded on a fake passport. Besides him, there’s another US-based gangster who is a person of interest in the case.

According to sources, Anmol Bishnoi allegedly tasked gangster Rohit Godara, currently residing in the US, with selecting shooters. Investigators believe the shooting was meticulously planned for a month

Godara’s extensive network of professional shooters spread across multiple states, including Maharashtra, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab, is suspected to be involved.

Sources stated that Godara, a close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi, has a history of facilitating high-profile killings. He allegedly arranged weapons for the shooters in this case, similar to his role in the killing of Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi and gangster Raju Theth’s murder.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang reportedly maintains a network of weapon caches hidden at associates’ homes across various states, allowing shooters easy access based on location and operation. Sources said Godara is suspected of supplying the weapons used to fire shots outside Salman Khan’s house through this network.

The involvement of a transnational criminal organisation has escalated the case. Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) is now conducting a parallel investigation alongside Mumbai Police.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also requested case files, leading to speculation that the premier anti-terror agency may take over the probe.
