International Cricket Council announces historic Women’s T20 World Cup prize money; winners to pocket USD 2.34 million
With 60 days to go for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales, the International Cricket Council has unveiled a record prize pool, underlining the rapid growth of the women’s game.
The total prize money for the tournament has been set at US$8,764,615 — a 10 per cent increase from the 2024 edition, where US$7,958,077 was shared among 10 teams. In a major step forward, the upcoming edition will feature 12 teams for the first time in the competition’s history.
The champions will walk away with US$2.34 million, while the runners-up will earn US$1.17 million. Both losing semi-finalists will receive US$675,000 each. At the group stage, every win will be worth US$31,154, and all participating teams are guaranteed a minimum payout of US$247,500.
ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta said the increased prize pool reflects the accelerating growth of women’s cricket globally.
“The growth of women’s cricket continues to accelerate, and the expansion of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup to 12 teams, combined with a record prize pool, underlines our commitment to building a stronger, more competitive global game,” he said.
He added that rising investment and opportunities are enhancing the global influence of women’s cricket, with the 2026 edition expected to set new benchmarks in attendance and viewership while making a broader socio-cultural impact.
The ICC has also launched a Trophy Tour in partnership with DP World. The tour began in London, with the trophy displayed at Lord’s Cricket Ground, which will host the final.
The trophy will now travel across European nations including the Netherlands, Ireland and Scotland, before heading to host cities in England. Fan engagement events are planned at Millennium Square in Leeds, St Peter’s Square in Manchester, Bullring in Birmingham, Cabot Circus in Bristol, Guildhall Square in Southampton and Trafalgar Square in London.
The tournament will get underway on June 12, with hosts England women’s cricket team taking on Sri Lanka women’s cricket team at Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
