Actor and model Shefali Jariwala, best known for her breakout role in the iconic music video Kaanta Laga, passed away late Friday in Mumbai. She was 42. Citing unnamed police sources, several media outlets have reported that Jariwala was undergoing anti-ageing treatment, which allegedly included oral doses of Vitamin C and Glutathione, as well as injections commonly used for skin lightening and detoxification.
As per preliminary accounts, she had taken her usual supplements Friday evening, followed by a reported injection later in the day. Her health reportedly deteriorated between 10 and 11 PM, with a sharp drop in blood pressure and severe shivering, prompting her husband to rush her to the hospital.
It is also reported that Jariwala had been fasting throughout the day due to a religious ceremony, which may have contributed to adverse effects from the medication. A forensic team has collected medical items and other materials from her residence. Statements from close contacts and medical professionals are being recorded as the investigation continues.
