Kannappa Box Office Day 2: Vishnu Manchu’s Film Crosses ₹15 Crore Mark in India.
Vishnu Manchu’s much-anticipated mythological drama Kannappa has made a strong impact at the box office within just two days of its release. The film, which hit theatres on Friday, has crossed the ₹15 crore mark in India, signaling a potential blockbuster run ahead.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa features a star-studded ensemble including Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Sarathkumar in pivotal roles. The film is inspired by the legendary Shaivite devotee Kannappa and is being lauded for its scale and visual spectacle.
Box Office Performance
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Kannappa had an impressive opening day, earning:
₹9.35 crore net and ₹11 crore gross in India
₹2 crore from overseas markets
Bringing its worldwide Day 1 total to ₹13 crore.
However, Day 2 saw a slight dip in collections, likely due to a typical post-launch slowdown. The film earned an estimated:
₹5.94 crore net on Saturday (Day 2)
Taking its India total to ₹15.29 crore net in just two days.
If momentum continues, Kannappa is on track to become Vishnu Manchu’s highest-grossing film to date.
Vishnu Manchu’s Biggest Hit Yet
For Vishnu Manchu, Kannappa is a defining moment in his career. His previous films, such as Ginna and Mosagallu, struggled at the box office, earning under ₹1 crore in their lifetime runs. His last notable success, Rowdy (2014), opened with ₹3 crore and closed its first week at around ₹11 crore—figures now surpassed by Kannappa in just two days.
Notably, the film has already outperformed the lifetime worldwide earnings of Arjun S/o Vyjayanthi (which earned ₹10 crore), marking another benchmark in its short but impactful theatrical journey.
Multilingual Release, Telugu Dominance
Kannappa has been released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi, with the Telugu version currently leading in terms of audience response and ticket sales.
Critical Reception
Early reviews have praised the film’s production values, action choreography, and visual effects. A News18 review stated:
“The whole sequence and the visual effects are superbly done, an example of how far our cinema has evolved technologically… Kannappa isn’t weighed down by age-old silliness. The fight sequences and visuals look rich.”
However, the review also pointed out that the dialogue and thematic tone may still feel familiar to viewers of traditional devotional cinema.
Kannappa is a 2025 Indian Telugu-language mythological devotional film, conceptualized and written by Vishnu Manchu, who also plays the titular role. The film is produced by veteran actor Mohan Babu and draws from the story of Kannappa, a devout follower of Lord Shiva.
The supporting cast includes Preity Mukhundhan, Kajal Aggarwal, Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, Brahmaji, Madhoo, and others in key roles.
