JD Vance Vows to Probe UFO Files, Says He Believes ‘Aliens’ Are Demons

US Vice President JD Vance said Friday he plans to dig deeper into government records on unidentified flying objects, adding that he believes so-called aliens may actually be “demons.”

“I have not been able to spend enough time on this to really understand it, but I am going to, trust me. I’m obsessed with this,” Vance said with a laugh during an interview with conservative podcaster Benny Johnson.

“I’ve still got three more years as vice president. I will get to the bottom of the UFO files,” he added.

The remarks came in response to a question about an order by President Donald Trump directing federal agencies in February to begin identifying and releasing government files related to UFOs and extraterrestrial life. Trump said the move was driven by “tremendous interest” in the subject.

The same month, former president Barack Obama sparked debate by saying publicly that aliens were “real,” though he clarified he had not seen them personally. Trump later accused Obama of sharing classified information, saying he “is not supposed to be doing that.”

Vance, however, offered a different interpretation. “I don’t think they’re aliens. I think they’re demons,” he said, describing it as a Christian view of “celestial beings who fly around who do weird things to people.”

Despite renewed public fascination, no scientific evidence has been produced confirming intelligent life beyond Earth. Interest in UFOs—now often referred to as unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs)—has grown in recent years as the US government examined numerous sightings, amid concerns that foreign adversaries could be testing advanced technologies.

In March 2024, the Pentagon released a report stating it found no proof that such phenomena were linked to alien technology. Many reported sightings were attributed to ordinary objects such as weather balloons, satellites, or surveillance aircraft.
