The Jharkhand government has released a list of 44 recruitment examinations that have been cancelled over alleged irregularities, a day after Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced.
The scrapping of the JSSC-Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam amid protests by job aspirants. The list was issued through eight notifications late Tuesday night. It includes examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) as well as tests handled by outsourced agency TSR Data Processing Pvt Ltd (TDPL) since 2014.
The cancelled exams covered recruitment for several government positions, including drug inspectors, assistant professors, deputy collectors, dental doctors, assistant engineers, civil judges, additional public prosecutors and forest range officers.
More Exams Cancelled
The list also includes recruitment examinations for lecturers in government polytechnics, senior scientific officers, assistant conservators of forests and various administrative and technical posts.
The government has also proposed several measures to address allegations of irregularities in the recruitment process.
It said it would approach the Jharkhand High Court to seek the establishment of a fast-track court for cases related to alleged irregularities in examinations conducted by the JPSC and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).
The government also plans to establish an internal vigilance cell in both commissions to strengthen monitoring of the examination process.
A reform committee headed by senior IAS officer Amitabh Kaushal has been given two months to submit recommendations on improving the examination systems of the JPSC and JSSC.
Government Acts After Student Protests
The latest decisions followed a four-hour emergency Cabinet meeting chaired by Soren on Monday. The meeting resulted in the announcement that the JSSC-CGL examination would be cancelled, addressing one of the major demands of protesting students.
Soren also announced that all examinations conducted by TDPL since 2014, along with the results issued by the agency, would be cancelled. The state government has blacklisted the agency.
The action comes amid growing demands from job aspirants for greater transparency and accountability in the state’s recruitment examination system.
