MCOCA Invoked Against All Accused in Tiger Shroff Firing Case

The Mumbai Police on Tuesday invoked stringent provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), 1999, against all accused arrested in connection with the firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff.

According to an official statement, MCOCA provisions have been added to DCB CID Crime Register No. 143/26, which was registered on October 19, 2026, under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.

The necessary approval to invoke the stringent law was granted by the competent authority on October 27 under Section 23(1)(a) of MCOCA. Subsequently, Sections 3(1)(ii), 3(2) and 3(4) of the Act were added to the case against all the accused.

The police said the investigation has been expedited in view of the alleged organised crime links associated with the incident. Further investigation is underway.

Extortion and Gang Dominance Among Suspected Motives
Earlier, the Mumbai Crime Branch said its investigation had pointed to three alleged motives behind the firing: extorting money, establishing the gang’s dominance and spreading fear among the public.

Investigators have alleged that the accused have links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and that the attack was intended to strengthen the gang’s influence, intimidate people and generate financial gains through extortion.

According to the Crime Branch, the accused were allegedly operating as active members of an organised crime syndicate. Investigators suspect that the firing was not an isolated incident but part of a planned criminal conspiracy aimed at securing financial benefits, asserting gang dominance and creating public fear.

The accused allegedly used illegal and lethal weapons to carry out the attack as part of the pre-planned conspiracy targeting the actor.

Inter-State Network Under Investigation
The investigation has also indicated that the alleged conspiracy was coordinated through an inter-state network spanning multiple locations, including Delhi and Mumbai.

Police are continuing to investigate the alleged roles of those involved, the network behind the incident and the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The invocation of MCOCA marks a significant escalation in the case, as investigators pursue the alleged organised crime links and the suspected motive behind the firing.
