PM Modi Highlights Gen Z Support, Cites BJP’s BMC Victory as a Sign for Bengal

Referring to the BJP’s sweeping success in the Maharashtra civic polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India’s young generation, particularly Gen Z, believes in the party’s development model. Addressing a gathering in Malda, West Bengal, after laying the foundations for multiple development projects and flagging off India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train, Modi expressed confidence that Bengal voters would follow suit in the upcoming assembly elections.

“In particular, the BJP secured a record victory for the first time in Mumbai, in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), one of the world’s largest municipal bodies—a landmark moment in Maharashtra politics. Recently, the party also elected its first mayor in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. These results show that even in states where BJP victories were once considered impossible, the party is now enjoying unprecedented support,” Modi said, according to ANI.

He added, “People of India, especially Gen Z, have reposed faith in BJP’s development model. After seeing your enthusiasm here, I firmly believe that this time, Bengal will give BJP an overwhelming majority.”

The Prime Minister also took aim at the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government, calling for a change in West Bengal. “Across Bengal, people deserve good governance under the BJP. After Bihar’s victory, I said with the blessings of Ma Ganga, the river of development will now flow in Bengal—and the BJP will make it happen,” he said.

Modi highlighted infiltration as a major challenge for Bengal, noting, “Even prosperous countries around the world, with abundant resources, are taking firm steps to remove illegal migrants. It is equally necessary to remove infiltrators from West Bengal.”
