Anupam Kher has come out strongly in defence of Dhurandhar 2, slamming critics who have labelled the film as propaganda.
Praising Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar, Kher shared his emotional reaction on Instagram, revealing he personally called Dhar to congratulate him.
“Outstanding” experience
In his post, Kher wrote, “Dhurandhar 2 is OUTSTANDING! Aditya Dhar is a ROCKSTAR! Sometimes, words fall short… You walk out of a film and there’s a silence within you that says everything, yet explains nothing. It is not just a film. It is an experience. An emotion. A journey that quietly enters your heart and refuses to leave. There are moments that don’t just play on screen—they stay with you long after the lights go on.”
He added, “Some stories are meant to be felt, not described. Dhurandhar 2 is one such story. Congratulations to the entire team for creating something so powerful, magical, moving, and deeply human. Watch it. Experience it. Every Indian will be proud of this film.”
Responding to ‘propaganda’ criticism
Kher did not hold back in addressing the backlash. “People calling it propaganda… should be ashamed of themselves. If you can’t tolerate such a movie, go make one yourself — put money, hire writers,” he said. He noted the film reflects modern India and celebrates the strength of its systems and people.
Saluting Ranveer Singh
Kher singled out Ranveer Singh’s performance, calling it deeply moving. “I’m a teacher of acting, and to really salute somebody takes time and conviction. Your body language, simmering anger, understanding your pain… in some scenes, your pain is so visible, it made me sad. My heart went out to you,” he wrote.
Ranveer Singh’s emotional reaction
Responding to Kher, Ranveer Singh wrote in the comments, “Shabd toh mere kam pad gaye yeh dekh kar, Sir. Aap ki kalakari se prerit ho kar bade hue hain, Sir… Aapko koti koti pranam.” (Words fall short, sir. I grew up inspired by your artistry. Hearing this from you means the world. My deepest respects.)
Kher also praised the contributions of people”,”Aditya Dhar”,”film director”], Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal for their work in the film.
