Sadiya Azhar, Jaish-e-Mohammed Women Wing Linked to Delhi Red Fort Blast.
Police sources have revealed links between the deadly car bomb near Delhi’s Red Fort — which killed nine people using ammonium nitrate fuel oil packed into a Hyundai i20 — and Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), the same outfit behind the 2019 Pulwama attack.
Founded by internationally designated terrorist Masood Azhar, JeM has been targeted repeatedly by Indian military operations. Airstrikes neutralised its training camps in Balakot after Pulwama, where 40 soldiers were killed, and missiles destroyed its Bahawalpur headquarters following the Pahalgam attack in April 2025, which claimed 26 civilian lives.
Azhar reported that 10 members of his family, including his brother-in-law Yusuf Azhar, were killed in the Bahawalpur strike. Yusuf was married to Azhar’s younger sister, Sadiya Azhar. Since then, the group has begun rebuilding with financial and logistical backing from elements within the Pakistan deep state.
As part of its revival, JeM launched a women’s wing, the Jamat ul-Muminat, with Sadiya Azhar in charge. She, along with her sister Samaira Azhar, has been reportedly conducting 40-minute online sessions to indoctrinate and recruit women, particularly targeting wives of JeM commanders and women from economically vulnerable communities near the group’s remaining camps.
Investigations suggest two direct links between the Red Fort blast and JeM:
The terror module responsible for the attack.
Shaheena Shahid, in whose Maruti Swift an assault rifle and ammunition were recovered.
Shahid, a medical professional, and her accomplice, Dr. Mujammil Shakeel of Faridabad’s Al-Falah Hospital, were arrested on Monday, along with Dr. Adil Ahmed Rather from Saharanpur, UP. Authorities also seized nearly 3,000 kg of explosives, including ammonium nitrate, during an inter-state anti-terror crackdown in Jammu & Kashmir.
The Red Fort blast was reportedly triggered by Dr. Umar Mohammed, a third member of the JeM module, after Shakeel and Rather’s arrests. The involvement of medical professionals highlights a disturbing new modus operandi adopted by the terror outfit.
