Smriti Mandhana Confirms Wedding With Palash Muchhal Is Off, Requests Privacy.

India cricketer Smriti Mandhana has confirmed that her wedding to music composer Palash Muchhal has been officially called off. After weeks of speculation, Mandhana addressed the issue on Instagram on December 7, saying both families had decided to cancel the wedding.

In a brief statement, Mandhana said she felt compelled to speak up due to the growing rumours.
“Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life, and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person… but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off,” she wrote.

Requesting privacy for the families, she added: “I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same. Please respect the privacy of both families and allow us the space to process and move on at our own pace.”

Mandhana also underscored her commitment to cricket, saying her purpose “has always been representing my country at the highest level” and that she hoped to “continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible.”

What Led to the Wedding Being Called Off
Mandhana and Muchhal’s wedding had been highly anticipated, especially after India’s Women’s World Cup triumph. The couple got engaged earlier this year when Palash proposed at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium following the final.

The ceremony was originally scheduled for 23 November 2025 in Sangli but was postponed indefinitely after a sudden double health emergency — Mandhana’s father was hospitalised on the morning of the wedding, and Muchhal also required medical care soon after due to severe stress. With both families under strain, the ceremony was put on hold.

In the days that followed, speculation surged online, including unverified allegations against Muchhal. His family denied the claims, calling them false and defamatory.

Several India teammates who were present for the wedding removed related photos from social media. Jemimah Rodrigues, who had stayed back from the Women’s Big Bash League, remained by Mandhana’s side during the crisis.

Mandhana’s statement on December 7 marked her first public comment since the initial postponement.

Palash Muchhal Also Breaks Silence
Shortly after Mandhana’s post, Muchhal issued his own statement, saying he was “moving on” from the relationship.

“This is the most difficult phase of my life, and I will deal with it gracefully,” he said. He condemned the spread of “baseless rumours,” adding that his team would take legal action against anyone sharing defamatory content.

Signs of a Breakup Emerge on Social Media
Adding to the speculation, fans noticed that Mandhana had recently unfollowed Muchhal on Instagram. She also appeared without her engagement ring in a video uploaded on December 5, shortly after ending a brief social media break.

As Muchhal continues to follow her, the social media activity further fuelled anticipation of an official announcement.

What’s Next for Smriti Mandhana
Despite the emotional upheaval, Mandhana indicated that her focus remains firmly on cricket. She is expected to return to training soon and will lead Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the upcoming Women’s Premier League, beginning January 9 in Navi Mumbai.
