Sonam Raghuvanshi Named Main Accused in 790-Page Honeymoon Murder Chargesheet.
Sonam Raghuvanshi has been named the prime accused in the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, in a 790-page chargesheet filed before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Sohra Sub-Division Court.
The chargesheet also lists four others — Raj, Akash Rajput, Anand Kurmi, and Vishal Singh Chauhan — all of whom are in judicial custody. The accused face charges under Sections 103(I) for murder, 238(a) for disappearance of evidence, and 61(2) for criminal conspiracy under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The case stems from the couple’s disappearance on May 23, shortly after their wedding on May 11, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Raja’s mutilated body was recovered in a deep gorge in Sohra on June 2.
Sonam was later traced to Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, about 1,200 km from the crime scene, and arrested by the Meghalaya Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) in June.
Investigators allege that Sonam conspired with Raj, who allegedly recruited three others to aid in the murder. On June 26, police recovered a country-made pistol, two magazines, and ammunition, reportedly purchased by Raj for a second planned murder in case the first attempt failed.
