Sonia Gandhi Showing Improvement, Set to Be Discharged in 1–2 Days: Hospital

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is expected to be discharged from Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital within the next day or two after showing signs of recovery. The Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson was admitted on March 24 and has responded well to treatment, hospital authorities said.

Dr. Ajay Swaroop, chairman of the hospital, said, “Sonia Gandhi is much better. She is showing medical improvement and is comfortable. She is walking around and has taken her breakfast. Overall, her progress is smooth, and we hope she will be fit to be discharged within a day or two.”

According to the hospital, Gandhi was admitted with a fever and is being treated with antibiotics for a systemic infection under the supervision of Dr. DS Rana, Dr. S. Nundy, and Dr. Arup Basu. She is responding positively to the treatment.

This is not Gandhi’s first hospitalisation this year. In June, she was admitted for stomach-related issues and observed in the hospital’s gastro department. Earlier, on June 7, she was admitted to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.

Expressing concern over her health, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah wrote on X, “Concerned to learn that Smt. Sonia Gandhi, former AICC President and senior Congress leader, has been hospitalised. Wishing her a speedy recovery. I am confident she will overcome this and return to good health soon.”
