Telangana techie shot dead by US police, family seeks help to repatriate body.

A 29-year-old software professional from Mahabubnagar, Telangana, Mohammed Nizamuddin, was shot dead by Santa Clara police in California on September 3 following an alleged altercation with his roommate, his family said. The exact circumstances of the incident remain unclear.

Nizamuddin’s father, Mohammed Hasnuddin, told PTI that he learned of the shooting through a friend and described the clash as being over a minor dispute. He has written to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar seeking urgent assistance to bring his son’s body back to India. The family’s appeal has also been highlighted by Majlis Bachao Tahreek spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan.

According to Santa Clara Police, officers responded to reports of a stabbing at a residence on Eisenhower Drive around 6:18 am. Nizamuddin allegedly threatened his roommate with a knife when police arrived. He was taken to hospital but later pronounced dead. Police Chief Cory Morgan said the officers’ actions “prevented further harm and clearly saved at least one life.” Two knives were recovered from the scene.

Nizamuddin had completed his MS in the US and was working there as a software professional.
