Three Indian-origin truck drivers have been arrested in connection with a shootout between rival tow-truck groups in Canada, police said.

The incident occurred late on October 7 in Brampton, Ontario. According to Peel Regional Police, the shooting took place around 10.45 pm in a parking lot near McVean Drive and Castlemore Road. Two rival groups became involved in an altercation that quickly escalated, during which multiple gunshots were fired.

One person sustained injuries in the incident, though police said the wounds were not life-threatening. Emergency services responded promptly, and the area was secured for investigation.

Authorities said the shooting was linked to an ongoing dispute between tow-truck groups, an issue that has raised public safety concerns in parts of the Greater Toronto Area.

Arrests after investigation

Following several weeks of investigation, police identified three individuals connected to one of the groups involved. On November 20, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Caledon and arrested the suspects.

The men were identified as Manjot Bhatti, Navjot Bhatti, and Amanjot Bhatti. Police said all three are truck drivers of Indian origin. A fourth suspect, believed to be the individual who fired the gun, remains at large.

Charges

Manjot Bhatti faces multiple charges, including reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, careless storage of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of an unauthorised firearm. He is also accused of being in a vehicle while aware that a firearm was present. Police said he has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Navjot Bhatti and Amanjot Bhatti have been charged with travelling in a vehicle while knowing a firearm was inside. Both were released on an undertaking and are expected to appear in court at a later date.

Search for fourth suspect

Peel Regional Police are continuing to search for the fourth suspect seen firing the gun in a video released by investigators. He has been described as a South Asian male wearinga black jacket, blue jeans, and white running shoes. Police have appealed to the public for information.
