US B-2 Bombers Fly 37 Hours Non-Stop to Strike Iran’s Nuclear Sites in Major Escalation.
In a dramatic show of military force, US B-2 Spirit bombers flew non-stop for nearly 37 hours from Missouri to strike three of Iran’s most heavily guarded nuclear facilities early Sunday morning. The mission, personally announced by former US President Donald Trump, marked one of the most direct American attacks on Iranian soil in recent years.
Refuelling multiple times mid-air, the stealth bombers targeted Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, dropping precision bunker-buster bombs and launching Tomahawk missiles in coordination with Israeli forces already engaged in a week-long military campaign against Iran.
“Fordow is gone,” Trump declared on his social media platform, referring to the underground facility long believed to be Iran’s most secure nuclear site. He hailed the mission as a “very successful attack”, warning Iran to “make peace immediately or they’ll get hit again.”
According to the Pentagon, the assault involved six bunker-busters targeting Fordow and approximately 30 Tomahawk missiles launched at the other two sites.
Military Build-Up and Strategic Coordination
The B-2 bombers had been repositioned to Guam in recent days in anticipation of potential strikes. Capable of carrying the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator, the aircraft were key to penetrating Fordow’s deep fortifications—something analysts say Israel alone may not have been able to accomplish.
An Iranian official, speaking to Tasnim news agency, acknowledged “damage to part of the Fordow site” from “enemy airstrikes.”
This strike followed a week of intensifying conflict between Israel and Iran, with over 400 reported deaths and thousands injured in Iran due to Israeli attacks. In Israel, retaliatory missile strikes have killed at least 14 and wounded more than 1,200, making it the worst escalation between the two nations in years.
Trump’s Role and Aftermath
Trump’s decision to directly engage came after days of internal deliberation, ultimately tipping the balance in Israel’s favour. In his post-strike message, he congratulated “our great American Warriors” and confirmed all US aircraft had returned safely.
He is expected to address the nation later in a televised Oval Office speech, underscoring the gravity of the moment and its possible global ramifications. The Israeli government confirmed close coordination with Washington, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaking directly to Trump following the attack.
As the international community reacts, the full geopolitical fallout of the strikes remains to be seen. For now, the message from Washington and Tel Aviv appears clear: Iran’s nuclear ambitions will be met with overwhelming force.
