Virat Kohli found himself trending again—this time for an off-field moment that quickly spiralled into a social media spectacle.
A simple ‘like’ on an Instagram post featuring German-South African influencer LizLaz, shot by photographer Advait Vaidya, turned into a full-blown meme fest within minutes. The interaction raised eyebrows as Kohli does not follow the influencer. Screenshots of the like spread rapidly across platforms, with fans reviving his now-famous “algorithm” explanation from a past incident.
“Kohli liked this post on Instagram. Another paragraph loading on algorithm,” one fan quipped, while others joined in with similar tongue-in-cheek reactions.
“It’s just an algorithm glitch guys—it happens with everyone,” another user wrote, echoing Kohli’s earlier clarification. Soon, phrases like “algorithm registered another interaction” began trending, as fans leaned into humour rather than controversy.
This isn’t the first time Kohli’s social media activity has sparked chatter. Back in 2025, a similar situation unfolded when he ‘liked’ a fan page post related to Avneet Kaur, prompting speculation before he dismissed it as an accidental interaction caused while cleaning up his feed. That explanation has since become meme material—and this latest episode only added fuel to it.
Amid the online buzz, Kohli’s on-field form remains unaffected. Representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026, he recently scored 49 off 34 balls against Lucknow Super Giants, guiding his side to a five-wicket win. The innings also helped him climb to the top of the season’s run charts, while overtaking KL Rahul to become the Indian opener with the most sixes in IPL history.
For now, what could have been a minor social media interaction has once again turned into a viral moment—complete with jokes, memes, and the ever-reliable “algorithm” making a comeback.
