West Bengal SIR hearings: 11,472 voters identified as ineligible, set for provisional deletion
Following hearings under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal, 11,472 voter names have been identified as ineligible and are likely to be provisionally deleted from the final list.
According to Election Commission data, a total of 6,578,058 notices have been generated so far. Hearings have been completed for 930,229 voters, with the provisional list of ineligible voters updated after conclusion of these proceedings. Prior to this stage, nearly 5.8 million names had already been deleted from the draft electoral roll, while around 3 million voters remain under the “no mapping” category.
Since 27 December, just over 900,000 voters have been called for hearings, resulting in the identification of 11,472 ineligible voters. Of the total notices generated, 3,249,091 have been delivered, while 3,328,967 are pending delivery. Approximately 1,414,180 cases remain pending, with 781,641 pending for more than five days.
District-wise highlights

Nadia recorded the highest number of ineligible voters at 9,228 out of 127,127 hearings conducted.

Hooghly reported 989 ineligible voters, while Purba Bardhaman and Birbhum recorded 167 and 264 respectively.

North 24 Parganas had 147, South 24 Parganas 69, Kolkata North 54, Howrah 26, and Murshidabad 68.

Smaller numbers were recorded in Cooch Behar (10), Jalpaiguri (4), Darjeeling (2), Uttar Dinajpur (2), Dakshin Dinajpur (195), Malda (15), Paschim Medinipur (105), Purulia (44), Alipurduar (9), Kalimpong (65), Jhargram (3), Paschim Bardhaman (4), and Purba Medinipur (2).

No ineligible voters have been reported in Kolkata South and Bankura.
The SIR process continues, with Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant EROs verifying cases before final publication of the updated voter list.
