Lewis’ Blazing 91, Hosein’s Triple Strike Power West Indies to Series Win Over Ireland.
West Indies wrapped up a commanding 1-0 T20I series win over Ireland with a thumping 62-run victory in the third and final match at Bready on Sunday, June 15. Evin Lewis lit up the contest with a ferocious 91 off just 44 balls, while left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein spun a web around the Irish batters with figures of 3/27.
After being sent in to bat, the visitors unleashed an onslaught to post a mammoth 256/5 — their second-highest total in T20I history. Lewis overcame a sluggish start to launch an all-out assault, hammering seven fours and eight sixes. Skipper Shai Hope chipped in with a fiery 51 off 27 balls as the duo stitched together a 122-run partnership in just 64 deliveries.
Keacy Carty played the perfect finisher’s role with an unbeaten 49 off 22 balls, while contributions from Shimron Hetmyer (15 off 7), Jason Holder (18 off 13), and Romario Shepherd (19* off 6) propelled the total past the 250-mark. Ireland’s Liam McCarthy endured a forgettable outing, conceding 81 runs — the second-most expensive spell in T20I history.
In response, Ireland faltered despite a promising 101-run stand between Ross Adair (48 off 36) and Harry Tector (38 off 25). The home side failed to keep pace with the soaring asking rate, collapsing in the middle overs under the pressure of Hosein’s probing spell and Jason Holder’s breakthroughs (2/49). Ireland eventually ended on 194/7.
With the first two games washed out by rain, West Indies clinched the series 1-0, showcasing their firepower in a dominant all-round display.
