Rumours suggesting a delay for Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups have been put to rest after actor Tara Sutaria clarified that the film remains on track for its scheduled release on June 4, 2026.
Speculation had been growing that the Yash–starrer might be pushed once again, but Tara addressed the chatter during an appearance on filmmaker Farah Khan’s YouTube vlog, confirming that there is no change in plans.
The film, backed by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, had earlier been shifted from its March 19 release date due to external disruptions, including tensions in the Middle East linked to the Iran–Israel conflict. That postponement had fuelled further uncertainty around its final release window.
About the film
Written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas, and directed by Mohandas, Toxic features an ensemble cast including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria alongside Yash in the lead.
The film drew attention early on for its teaser, which sparked controversy over certain visuals that some groups objected to, with criticism ranging from allegations of obscenity to concerns raised by organisations including women’s rights bodies and religious groups. The filmmakers, however, have defended the project and urged audiences not to judge it solely on promotional material.
Production and background
Toxic was officially announced in 2023 and went on floors in 2024. The film has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, positioning it as a major pan-India and international-facing production.
Director Geetu Mohandas had earlier spoken about Tara Sutaria’s role, praising her restrained performance and describing how the actor’s quiet approach added depth to the character of Rebecca. The first look of Tara in the film was unveiled in January this year, further building anticipation around the project.
With Tara now confirming the release date, the makers have effectively shut down fresh speculation — at least for now — and shifted focus back to the film’s final leg of production and promotions.
