Israeli Strike Hits Iranian State TV Headquarters as Regional Conflict Escalates.

Tensions between Israel and Iran reached a new high on Monday as Israeli forces targeted the headquarters of Iran’s state broadcaster, IRIB, in Tehran, amid ongoing cross-border hostilities. The attack, part of Israel’s ongoing Operation Rising Lion, forced a news anchor off-air mid-broadcast as explosions rocked the capital.

Footage aired by Iranian media showed IRIB’s complex engulfed in thick black smoke, with debris scattered across the premises. The dramatic scene unfolded live, highlighting the growing intensity of hostilities between the two long-standing adversaries.

According to Iran’s Far News Agency, Israel had earlier struck a military installation in western Tehran. Multiple explosions were reported throughout the capital as Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) intensified airstrikes on what they called military targets.

In a statement, the IDF confirmed issuing prior evacuation warnings to civilians in Tehran — a move it contrasted with the lack of such alerts for Israeli civilians under attack. A message in Farsi was also published, warning Tehran residents of incoming strikes.

In response, Iranian media reported that Tehran was preparing for the “largest and most intense missile strike in history” against Israel. On Monday morning, Iran launched a barrage of missiles targeting major Israeli cities, killing at least eight people. This marks the fourth consecutive day of conflict, further deepening regional instability already aggravated by the months-long Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

Israel began striking Iranian sites on June 13, citing concerns over Tehran’s alleged pursuit of nuclear weapons and its ballistic missile program. While Israel has not officially confirmed its nuclear capabilities, it is widely believed to possess a significant arsenal. Iran, on the other hand, maintains its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes, although the UN nuclear watchdog (IAEA) recently declared that Tehran was in breach of its Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) obligations.

In a potentially alarming development, Iranian lawmakers are reportedly preparing a bill to exit the NPT, as frustrations mount over Western pressure and continued Israeli attacks. Meanwhile, the G7 nations, in a draft statement, have urged restraint from both sides, stating that Israel has the right to defend itself, while reiterating their stance that Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons.

With both nations escalating retaliatory attacks and diplomatic solutions appearing distant, fears of a full-scale regional war are rising — one that could have far-reaching global consequences.
