Manoj Bajpayee Condemns Fake Video, Clarifies No Political Links Ahead of Bihar Polls.
Actor Manoj Bajpayee has publicly denounced a manipulated video of him circulating online ahead of the Bihar elections. The clip falsely implied that he was endorsing a political party, but it was actually a doctored version of an old advertisement he did for Prime Video India.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Bajpayee wrote, “I would like to publicly state that I have no association or allegiance with any political party. The video being circulated is a fake, patched-up edit of an ad I did for @PrimeVideoIN. I sincerely appeal to everyone sharing it to stop spreading such distorted content and urge people not to engage with or encourage such misleading content.”
Social media quickly reacted, with users highlighting the growing concern around celebrities’ rights to control the use of their image. One user commented, “This is why celebrities are moving courts to protect their ‘personality rights’,” while another suggested, “Time to follow Akshay, Abhishek, and Aishwarya’s lead, trademark that face and voice.”
Several prominent actors have recently taken legal action to safeguard their personality and publicity rights. Hrithik Roshan, for example, secured legal protection against the unauthorized commercial use of his persona. Others who have acted to protect their image include Karan Johar, Suniel Shetty, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Akshay Kumar.
