India Condemns Pakistan Airstrikes in Afghanistan at UN, Flags Civilian Deaths.

India on Thursday strongly condemned Pakistan’s airstrikes in Afghanistan during a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) session, highlighting the killing of innocent women, children, and civilians. Echoing the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), India said the attacks violate the UN Charter and international law and called for full protection of civilians.

India also expressed serious concern over Pakistan’s “trade and transit terrorism,” pointing to the closure of key supply routes to landlocked Afghanistan. The envoy described such actions as violations of WTO norms and “acts of war” against a nation already struggling to rebuild.

While condemning the strikes, India reaffirmed its support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and stressed the importance of pragmatic engagement with the Taliban, urging international policies that incentivize positive action rather than rely solely on punitive measures.

India also called on the international community to ensure UN-designated terrorist groups—including ISIL, Al-Qaida, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and proxies like the Resistance Front—cannot engage in cross-border attacks or receive operational support.

The envoy emphasized that a nuanced, structured approach is essential to deliver sustainable benefits to the Afghan people and stabilize the region.
