Honey Singh Praises Yash’s Ravana in Ramayana, Says He Looks ‘Better’ Than Ranbir Kapoor
Singer-rapper Honey Singh has praised Yash’s portrayal of Ravana in the recently released trailer of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, saying the Kannada star looked “incredible” in the role.
During an Instagram Live session on Thursday, Honey Singh reacted to the trailer and singled out Yash’s performance as Ravana. The singer, who described himself as a devoted follower of Lord Ram, said he was particularly impressed by Yash’s screen presence.
“Yash bhai Bengaluru se hamare. Ravana bane hain. Sach kahu doston, maine Ramayana ka teaser dekha hai. Main Shri Ram ka bahut bada bhakt hoon. Mera Ravana se koi lena-dena nahi hai. But Yash bhai kya lag rahe hain. Mere opinion mein Ranbir bhai se zyada achhe mujhe,” Singh said.
Singh was referring to Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Ram in the film. He also expressed hope that the movie respects the sentiments of audiences who have grown up watching the Ramayana and traditional Ramleelas.
“I hope ki movie bahut achhi ho. Kisi ke sentiments ko hurt na kare. Jaisi hum bachpan se Ramayana dekhte aaye hain, jo hum Delhi mein aur Karampura mein Ramleela dekhte aaye hain, jitni pure thi hamare liye, waisi hi rahe. Koi ched-chhad na ho. Kyuki emotions hain bachpan ke,” he said.
Why Yash Chose Ravana
Yash had earlier explained his decision to portray Ravana despite having the freedom to choose his role as a producer. Appearing on Aap Ki Adalat, he said Ravana’s evil was essential to effectively portray Lord Ram’s goodness.
“Ram ka bhalai dikhane ke liye Ravan ka burai bhi toh chahiye,” Yash said.
He then added confidently, “Mujhse achcha burai koi dikha nahin sakta.”
When asked jokingly whether he had taken responsibility for playing the villain, Yash said that he would also excel when he eventually played a good character.
Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita, with Yash as Ravana. Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey also feature in key roles.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the epic is planned as a two-part film. The first instalment is scheduled for a worldwide release on November 8, 2026, while the second part is set to arrive during Diwali 2027.
