Neena Gupta Breaks Silence On Pregnancy Rumours After Vijay-Rashmika Reception Appearance

Neena Gupta has never shied away from discussing the scrutiny she has faced over her personal life and choices.

From her relationship with former West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards and raising daughter Masaba Gupta as a single mother to her fashion choices, the actor has often found herself at the centre of public discussion.

In an exclusive conversation with News18, Neena spoke about dealing with intrusive questions and judgment over the years. She recalled being repeatedly questioned about marriage and even facing complaints from neighbours.

“I got asked when I would get married. I would tell them, main tere baap ka nahi khaati, apne baap ka rahi hoon, toh kya problem hai?” she said, explaining that she eventually learned who had complained about her and chose to distance herself from those neighbours.

NEENA GUPTA REACTS TO PREGNANCY SPECULATION

Earlier this year, Neena attended Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s wedding reception in Hyderabad. Images and videos from the event showed a slight bulge around her stomach, prompting some social media users to speculate that she was pregnant.

The actor admitted that the speculation irritated her. Explaining what had actually happened, Neena said she had worn a saree made from relatively thick fabric, and the way its pleats fell created the appearance of a bump.

“I got annoyed with it,” she said, adding that the speculation eventually became something she chose to respond to with humour.

Neena joked that whenever people asked her about the pregnancy rumours, she started telling them that she was indeed pregnant. Referring humorously to reports about women giving birth at an advanced age, she added that perhaps she still had a chance.

ACTOR HAS ALSO FACED SCRUTINY OVER HER FASHION CHOICES

Neena has previously been criticised online for wearing outfits that some people considered inappropriate for her age.

In 2023, she attended the success party of her OTT project The Trial Period wearing a black dress and boots. While some social media users questioned her choice of outfit, many others praised her confidence and decision to ignore conventional expectations about how women should dress as they get older.

Neena has maintained that negative comments do not affect her when they are outweighed by positive feedback. For her, the important factor is whether she feels comfortable and whether an outfit suits her body.

She explained that she avoids clothes that highlight areas she is personally uncomfortable with, while choosing to wear outfits that allow her to feel confident about features she likes.

The actor has consistently maintained that fashion should be about personal comfort rather than following expectations based on age.
