Andhra’s Jahnavi Dangeti to Embark on Space Mission in 2029 After Making History with NASA Program.
Jahnavi Dangeti, a native of Palakollu in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district, is set to make history as she prepares to journey into space in 2029. The young engineer is the first Indian to successfully complete NASA’s prestigious International Air and Space Program.
A graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Lovely Professional University, Punjab, Jahnavi has been selected as an astronaut candidate for the Titan’s Orbital Port Space Station—a US-based private space mission scheduled for launch within the next four years.
Raised in Palakollu, where she completed her intermediate education, Jahnavi’s parents, Srinivas and Padmasri, currently work in Kuwait. Despite her small-town roots, she has charted a path of global recognition in the space and science community.
Jahnavi is widely recognized for her contributions to STEM education and space outreach. She has delivered keynote lectures for ISRO’s educational initiatives and engaged with students at top engineering institutions, including various National Institutes of Technology (NITs). Her commitment to advancing space research has also seen her participate in analog missions, deep-sea diving, and international conferences focused on planetary science and sustainable space exploration.
Her achievements include contributing to a provisional asteroid discovery under the International Astronomical Search Collaboration, using data from the Pan-STARRS observatory. She also holds the distinction of being the youngest foreign analog astronaut and the first Indian selected for Space Iceland’s planetary geology training.
Over the years, Jahnavi has received several accolades, including the People’s Choice Award at NASA’s Space Apps Challenge and the ISRO World Space Week Young Achiever Award.
With her upcoming 2029 mission, Jahnavi is poised to inspire a new generation of Indians to look toward the stars—proving that with passion and perseverance, even the sky is not the limit.
