Elon Musk Launches ‘America Party’ After Rift with Trump, Calls for End to ‘Uniparty’ Rule.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has officially entered the American political arena with the launch of a new party, the America Party, announced via his social media platform X on Saturday. The move follows a public split with President Donald Trump and growing criticism of what Musk describes as a “broken, one-party system.”

“Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom,” Musk wrote, citing the results of a public poll where over 65% of respondents supported the idea of creating a new political alternative.

The announcement comes just days after Trump signed into law the controversial “One Big Beautiful Bill,” a sweeping tax and spending package that Musk claims will add $3.3 trillion to the national debt over the next decade. Once a close Trump ally, Musk had served as head of the now-defunct Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) before stepping down following disagreements over federal spending priorities.

Musk has since sharpened his attacks on the political establishment, repeatedly referring to it as a “uniparty”—a system he says offers no real choice to voters. In one post, he compared his political strategy to Epaminondas’ military tactics at Leuctra, vowing to apply “extremely concentrated force at a precise location” to disrupt the current system.

A Grassroots Launch?
Musk’s idea gained momentum after he floated the concept in a July 4th poll on X:

“Should we create the America Party?”
The response was swift—65.4% voted “Yes”, while 34.6% opposed.

Supporters have likened Musk’s political leap to his ventures with Tesla and SpaceX—ambitious, high-risk, and potentially game-changing.

Though details about the party’s policy platform remain scarce, Musk has positioned it as a challenge to both Republicans and Democrats, appealing to voters frustrated with the political status quo.
