RCB captain Faf du Plessis was relieved after his side ended their one-month long wait for a win in the IPL 2024 with a comprehensive win over SRH on Thursday, April 25.

RCB’s last and only win before the game in Hyderabad came on March 25 when they defeated PBKS in a thriller at home. Since then, they have gone on a six-match losing streak, which came to an end at the Uppal.

RCB won the match by 35 runs after Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar hit fifties to help them post 206 runs in the first innings. The SRH batting order crumbled in the chase and struggled to find any rhythm on the day as the spinners Swapnil Singh and Karn Sharma stepped up with the ball. Cameron Green also delivered an all-round performance in Hyderabad to hand RCB their second win of the season.

Du Plessis was a relieved man while talking at the post-match presentation and said that RCB had shown signs of fight in their last two games against KKR and SRH. The RCB skipper also said that the only thing that can give confidence to the group is performances.

“Last two games, we’ve shown great signs of fight. SRH game was 270 plus, we got 260. KKR game as well – 1 run. We’ve been close for a while, but you need to win matches to get confidence as a group. Will sleep easier tonight. You can’t speak confidence into the group, can’t fake confidence into the group. Only thing that gives confidence is performances,” said Du Plessis.

Finding a recipe for Chinnaswamy
Du Plessis said that the IPL has been strong and teams would need to be at 100 percent to put in performances. The RCB skipper was happy to see Green be amongst the runs and also said that the team is yet to find the right recipe for the Chinnaswamy stadium.

“The competition is so strong, the teams are so strong that you’ll get hurt if you’re not at 100 percent. More guys scoring runs now. First half of the tournament only Virat was scoring runs. Greeny scoring runs now will be massive for him. We know that Chinnaswamy, that’s been a big frustration for us. It’s a difficult ground to bowl at. We’ve tried to find a recipe for it, but it’s tough,” said Du Plessis.

RCB will now face GT in their next two matches, with the first one being in Ahmedabad on April 28.
