IndiGo Says Refunds for December Flight Disruptions Fully Processed, Offers Additional Travel Vouchers.
Domestic airline IndiGo has processed refunds for all passengers affected by flight cancellations between December 3 and 5, the aviation regulator DGCA confirmed on Friday.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said it has been closely monitoring the airline’s refund and compensation efforts following the operational disruptions. “IndiGo informed that all refunds for flight cancellations during December 3-5 have been fully processed and credited to the original payment source,” the regulator said.
As an extra measure, IndiGo is providing two travel vouchers of ₹5,000 each, valid for 12 months, to affected passengers as a “gesture of care.” Passengers remain entitled to compensation under DGCA regulations for denied boarding, cancellations, and delays.
Despite this, some travelers have reported delays in receiving refunds for cancellations between December 2-9, posting complaints on social media under the hashtag #RefundDelay.
In Parliament on December 9, Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu stated that more than ₹750 crore had already been refunded to passengers. Following the disruptions, DGCA set up a four-member committee to investigate the causes. The panel submitted its report on December 27, and the ministry is reviewing it to decide further action.
Passengers are advised to contact IndiGo’s support for any pending refunds while the airline continues to address outstanding complaints.
