Israel Poised for Potential Strike on Iran as US Braces for Fallout.
Israel is reportedly prepared to launch a military operation against Iran within the coming days, according to US officials cited in intelligence briefings. The United States, anticipating retaliatory action from Tehran, particularly against American interests in Iraq, has begun scaling down its diplomatic and military presence in the region.
On Thursday, the US State Department issued orders for non-emergency government staff to leave Iraq, citing “heightened regional tensions.” Additional precautionary measures are underway, with non-essential personnel expected to withdraw from US embassies and military bases that fall within Iran’s missile strike range. This includes installations in Bahrain, the UAE, and Kuwait, which have all been placed on high alert.
Potential Military Escalation
The developments come amid growing friction over Iran’s nuclear ambitions. US President Donald Trump reaffirmed Washington’s position, stating, “They can’t have a nuclear weapon. Very simple. We’re not going to allow that.”
Despite these tensions, Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, is still expected to meet Iranian officials for a sixth round of nuclear talks, although diplomatic channels appear increasingly strained.
Cyberattacks and Airspace Disruptions
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Iran has launched cyberattacks targeting US allies in the region. Tehran is also allegedly jamming GPS signals and engaging in aerial coordination over Iranian and Iraqi airspace. Several countries, including Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, and Iraq, have issued partial or full airspace closures amid fears of conflict escalation.
Netanyahu-Trump Call and Military Coordination
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly held a phone call with President Trump to discuss the possibility of Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. In response, Iran’s National Security Council issued a statement warning that any Israeli aggression would be met with “full-force retaliation,” targeting both Israeli assets and US bases in the region.
US Begins Troop Withdrawal
The US government has initiated the evacuation of non-essential personnel from sensitive regions in the Middle East. A State Department official, speaking to The Times of Israel, said, “President Trump is committed to keeping Americans safe, both at home and abroad. Based on our latest analysis, we decided to reduce the footprint of our Mission in Iraq.”
While both Washington and Tel Aviv have stopped short of confirming a planned strike, the current trajectory suggests the region may be on the brink of open conflict.
