24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic parted ways with his long-time coach Goran Ivanisevic after a winless start to his season in 2024.

Djokovic and Ivanisevic, a former Wimbledon champion, worked together for 6 years from 2018 and the Croatian tactician was instrumental in the Serb fine-tuning his game and producing an envious run at the highest level. During Ivanisevic’s tenure, Djokovic went on to become the most successful men’s singles player in the history of the game as he overtook both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in terms of Grand Slam victories.

Novak Djokovic took to Instagram on Wednesday, March 27 to confirm the split with his long-term coach. Djokovic acknowledged that their working relationship had seen several ups and downs, but their friendship remained intact.

“Goran and I decided to stop working together a few days ago. Our on-court chemistry had its ups and downs, but our friendship was always rock solid. In fact, I am proud to say (not sure he is) that apart from winning tournaments together, we also had a side battle in Parchisi going onâ€æ for many years. And – that tournament never stops for us,” Djokovic wrote in his post.

“Å efinjo, thanks for everything my friend. Love you,” he added.
