Amid escalating border conflict with India, as many as 20 Pakistan army personnel were killed as they came under a massive attack in South Waziristan, the responsibility of which was claimed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Baloch insurgents also wreaked havoc on the Pakistani soldiers and killed two of them in a clash. TTP attacked Pakistan military’s Dawngate outpost in Shakai sub-division of South Waziristan on Thursday night, Times of India reported. TTP said that it carried out a multi-phase operation, earlier taking down six Pakistani soldiers with laser-aided rifles. The military convoy, which was sent to support the outpost, was also attacked.

They said that 20 Pakistani soldiers were killed and five were injured in the attack.

The TTP charged that the Pakistan army “leaked” coordinates of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed’s Bahawalpur Markaz, which was taken out by the Indian strikes under Operation Sindoor, that killed 14, including 10 family members of JeM founder and terrorist Masood Azhar.

TTP spokesman Md Khorasani said that the Pakistani army was a “traitorous and pro-Western” group that leaked information that led to the attack. He also labelled the Pakistan army as a “professional killer group” that worked for foreign interests at the expense of Pakistanis.

He accused the Pakistan army of “handing over mujahideen to infidels,” while referring to the killing of Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad by the US military.

On Friday evening, the Baloch Freedom fighters launched a massive attack across several regions of Balochistan and struck Pakistani forces and infrastructure.

They carried out the attack in multiple places, including in Turbat, where they attacked with a grenade in D Baloch area, and Quetta, where grenades were hurled at Pakistani army posts in Hazarganji and Faizabad, according to the report.

Just days after a BLA IED blast killed eight soldiers in Bolan, Pakistan faces rising pressure as both the BLA and TTP intensify attacks. A week earlier, 10 soldiers were killed in Quetta. With TTP launching ‘Operation Khandak’ and BLA using snipers, explosives, and ambushes, Pakistan finds itself cornered on three fronts, including growing tensions with India.
