PM Modi Extends Eid Greetings to Bahrain King, Condemns Attacks on Energy and Civilian Infrastructure

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday conveyed warm Eid al-Fitr greetings to King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and the people of Bahrain, while expressing concern over recent attacks on energy and civilian infrastructure in West Asia.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) following a telephonic conversation, PM Modi said, “Had a fruitful discussion with the King of Bahrain, His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa. Conveyed warm greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr to him and the people of Bahrain.”

Regional tensions discussed

The leaders discussed the ongoing situation in the region, noting the impact of rising tensions on security and stability. PM Modi condemned the attacks on energy and civilian infrastructure, highlighting their potential effect on global food, fuel, and fertilizer security.

He also emphasized the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation and keeping shipping routes open and secure, underlining their significance for global trade and regional stability.

Support for Indian community in Bahrain

PM Modi thanked the Bahraini king for his continued support for the Indian community residing in the Gulf nation. The call reflects India’s active diplomatic engagement amid escalating regional tensions.

This marked the second conversation between PM Modi and the Bahrain king since the situation intensified following US and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, which prompted retaliatory attacks targeting several Gulf countries.

Since the conflict began, PM Modi has held discussions with leaders from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, UAE, France, Malaysia, Israel, and Iran, emphasizing dialogue, stability, and continued engagement with all sides to manage the crisis.
