Rishabh Pant’s long-standing effort to find a home in his native Uttarakhand has received a positive response from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Who has assured the India wicketkeeper-batter that the state government will provide all possible assistance within the rules.
Pant had publicly appealed to Dhami for help with the process of acquiring land in Uttarakhand. The 28-year-old, who is currently in Sri Lanka with the Indian team for the two-Test series, made the request in a post on X early Saturday.
Pant said he had spent the last three years looking for a suitable piece of land to shift his base from Delhi to Uttarakhand and build his first home there. He also said his decision was motivated by his desire to reconnect with his roots and contribute to his home state.
“I have been trying to buy land to shift my base from Delhi to Uttarakhand and I couldn’t find anything facilitating and big to live here. I love my Uttarakhand,” Pant wrote.
Making a direct appeal to Dhami, he added, “My humble request to you is please help me in land acquisition… I wanna move back to my native place to help and build around Uttarakhand and I want to shift back to my Pahadi people. Please look into this matter, it’s been 3 years.”
Dhami Responds To Pant’s Appeal
Dhami welcomed Pant’s desire to return to his roots and praised the cricketer for putting Uttarakhand on the global map through his performances.
“Dear Rishabh, you are the pride of Uttarakhand. With your splendid performance and achievements, you have illuminated the name of Devbhoomi in the country and the world,” Dhami wrote in response.
The Chief Minister also praised Pant’s intention to contribute to the state after establishing himself as an international cricketer.
“Your love for your motherland and your sentiment of returning here to contribute are highly commendable,” he added.
Dhami Promises Official Assistance
Dhami said Pant’s request had been forwarded to the concerned officials and that they would soon contact the cricketer.
“Regarding the matter you have raised, instructions are being issued to the concerned officials. They will soon contact you and ensure all possible cooperation in accordance with the rules,” he said.
Pant had also made it clear that he was not asking the government to gift him land. Instead, he said he was willing to purchase the property at the applicable government rates.
“A gift would be lovely for representing our state at the highest level internationally, but if you allow me I wanna buy it from Government and on their rates,” Pant wrote.
Rishabh Pant’s Uttarakhand Connection
Born in Roorkee in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district, Pant began his cricketing journey in the state before moving to Delhi to pursue the sport professionally. Although he continues to represent Delhi in domestic cricket, the cricketer has maintained a strong connection with Uttarakhand.
His appeal came shortly after reports identified Pant as Uttarakhand’s highest individual taxpayer for the 2025-26 financial year, with reports stating that he paid Rs 23.84 crore in income tax.
Pant’s earnings include his BCCI contract, match fees, IPL income and endorsement deals. He was acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore and has commercial associations with several major brands.
With Dhami now directing officials to assist him, Pant’s three-year search for land to build his first home in Uttarakhand appears to have moved closer to a resolution.
