The White House is weighing the possibility of expanding the planned August 15 meeting between.
US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska to include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, NBC News reported, citing a senior US official and three people familiar with the discussions.
According to the report, the idea of a trilateral summit is “under discussion,” but no final decision has been made on whether Zelenskyy will attend or what his role in the talks might be.
A White House official confirmed on Saturday that Trump is open to the prospect of hosting a three-way meeting with Putin and Zelenskyy. However, for now, plans remain focused on a bilateral session with Putin, which the official said was scheduled at the Russian president’s request.
If confirmed, the Alaska summit would mark the first formal talks between the US, Russia, and Ukraine’s top leaders since the Ukraine war began in 2022.
