Varanasi to Depict Battle Between Rama and Kumbhkarna; ‘Peddi’ Director Responds to Backlash Over Janhvi Role
SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi is set to feature a major action highlight—a 30-minute battle sequence between Rama and Kumbhkarna from the Ramayana—according to the director’s father, adding to the growing anticipation around the film.
The epic project, already one of the most awaited releases, is expected to bring large-scale mythological storytelling to the screen, with the Ramayana-inspired sequence designed as a key spectacle moment.
Meanwhile, Peddi director Buchi Babu Sana has responded to criticism surrounding alleged oversexualisation of Janhvi Kapoor in the film. Speaking in a recent interview, he said the team initially intended to portray a “playful romance” between Janhvi Kapoor and Ram Charan, but the final output did not align with their original vision.
In other developments, actor Shilpa Shinde has found herself at the centre of controversy after her remarks about filing a false sexual harassment case against Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain producer Sanjay Kohli. Her comments on a podcast with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa triggered backlash, with the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) calling for action. Shilpa Shinde has since released a video clarifying her stance.
Actor Shalin Bhanot also opened up about a difficult phase in his personal life following his separation from Dalljiet Kaur, recalling how he felt emotionally overwhelmed and returned to his hometown, Jabalpur, during that period.
Separately, Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming project Main Vaapas Aaunga will feature a special musical tribute event at the Attari Border titled Jai Ho – A Tribute To The Bravehearts. The ceremony will include a live performance by composer A.R. Rahman on June 7, honouring the Border Security Force.
