Zelenskyy to Meet Trump on ‘Sensitive Issues’ Following Geneva Peace Talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday said Geneva talks with US and European officials produced a more streamlined and practical set of proposals aimed at ending Russia’s nearly four-year invasion, while cautioning that significant challenges remain.

In a post on X, Zelenskyy said discussions, focused on a US-drafted 28-point peace plan, resulted in “fewer points” with “many of the right elements,” making the plan more workable. He added that Ukraine must continue working “with dignity” to finalise the document.

Zelenskyy confirmed his team presented a revised draft and said he will raise the most sensitive issues directly with US President Donald Trump. “This is indeed the right approach,” he said.

He emphasised that Ukraine is committed to peace and will not obstruct the process, adding that “millions of Ukrainians are counting on, and deserve, a dignified peace.” However, he warned that Russia is attempting to “derail this opportunity” through disinformation and intimidation, which Kyiv is actively countering.

The president also stressed that global partners must take threats seriously, including potential Russian missile or air-strike escalations during diplomatic efforts. Zelenskyy noted that restraint from such attacks is achievable, particularly with strong US engagement.

Following the Geneva talks, Zelenskyy held coordination calls with European leaders, including the presidents of Finland and Lithuania and the prime ministers of Norway and Spain. He highlighted ongoing international support and reiterated that a just and dignified peace requires Russia to end the war.

Zelenskyy spoke after attending the Crimean Platform parliamentary summit in Sweden, where over 70 delegations reaffirmed support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
