Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 4: Mirabai Chanu Headlines India’s Medal Charge – Full Schedule for July 26
The Commonwealth Games 2026 enters an exciting fourth day on Sunday, July 26, with India eyeing medals across weightlifting, gymnastics, swimming, boxing and lawn bowls. Leading the charge is Tokyo Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu, who returns to the Commonwealth stage in pursuit of a third gold medal in the Women’s 48kg event.
Chanu, one of India’s biggest medal hopes, is the overwhelming favourite in her category thanks to her superior credentials and experience. While the focus will be on securing gold, the former world champion is also expected to manage her lifts carefully with the Asian Games just weeks away.
India’s weightlifting campaign also features Rishikanta Singh in the Men’s 60kg final and Raja Mathupandi in the Men’s 65kg final, as the team looks to continue the country’s rich legacy in the sport.
Apart from weightlifting, Indian athletes will compete in medal events in artistic gymnastics, while the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay team hopes to book a place in the swimming final. Boxing action also gathers pace with three Indian pugilists beginning their campaigns, and lawn bowls features multiple sectional matches.
