Prabhas’ The Raja Saab Leaked Online a Day After Release; US Restaurant Allegedly Screens Pirated Version.
Maruthi’s horror-comedy The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas, hit theatres this Friday ahead of Sankranthi. However, just a day after its release, the film was leaked online, prompting the cybercrime police in Hyderabad to crack down on piracy platforms. Adding to the controversy, a restaurant in the US allegedly played a pirated copy of the film on TV.
US Restaurant Shares Pirated Screening
An Instagram page for NRIs posted a video (since deleted) claiming that a restaurant in Ohio was showing a pirated version of The Raja Saab on its television. The post, captioned “Too much ra 🙏🙏,” quickly circulated online.
This comes even as the film’s US distributor, Prathyangira Cinemas, announced that the movie has crossed $2 million in the region within just two days. Globally, The Raja Saab has reportedly grossed ₹138.30 crore.
Hyderabad Police Target Online Piracy
After the arrest of Ravi Emandi, operator of the pirate site iBomma, Hyderabad cybercrime police have turned their attention to another suspect. An individual named Naveen, allegedly running the pirate websites 5movierulz and 1tamilmv, is reportedly operating from Sri Lanka.
A senior police officer told TOI that camcorder prints of recent films are being uploaded online. Both The Raja Saab and Dhurandhar were found streaming illegally on these platforms.
